About our Program
Morning Glory Family Cooperative is a Waldorf inspired program providing a home-like environment for children ages 2-5 years old and potty trained. Our program is rooted in rhythm, imagination, and play-based learning. The children are immersed in play on our beautiful 5 acre property with goats and chickens, a seasonal stream, a garden, meadow, swings, and sand pit. Enrichment is provided by an experienced Waldorf certified instructor.
"The child is the creator of play at a Waldorf school. Children play from the images created during circle time and story time, and from the images in their own life experiences. If there are rich images around the children, they can create satisfying and appropriate play."
- Barbara J. Patterson
What is a day like in our program?

Each day begins outside, where the children are greeted with song. There is digging, road making, baking in the sand, raking of leaves, smelling of flowers, and tending to the garden. Each day the child's imagination brings something new to life on our Morning Glory Play yard. They are transitioned to the classroom with song and as the children step into the classroom, they are greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere where the air feels soft and the light filters gently through the windows, casting a golden glow over everything. The daily artistic or cooking activity is set on the table and the room is alive with the quiet hum of song and activity, as if time itself is unfolding slowly, just as it should for young children.
The classroom is filled with nature’s treasures—stones, wooden animals, seashells, wooden logs, and silk scarves, ready to be woven into the day's adventures. Every material that is presented in our classroom is chosen with intentionality as each item has not only come from Mother Earth, but invites curiosity, imagination, and connection to the natural world. In one corner of the room, you will find a miniature version of a home, furnished with a wooden play kitchen, table, felt food, rocking chair, dress up items, and a cradle. On another shelf, wooden animals and building blocks to be used to build or create puppet shows. Our materials are open ended to leave space for the child to use their imagination. We gather each day for seasonal songs, versus, birthdays or a puppet plays that stimulate the child's imagination, social skills, and deepens their connection to the world around them. The way we share meals is like a family, around a round wooden table, lit by candlelight. Every meal begins with a verse and ends in thanks. Organic fruit or vegetables and nuts and a warm organic lunch is shared together every day.

After we have ring and then snack, we take a walk to the goats and chickens, feed them our scraps and continue to the meadow or stream to play. The children enjoy this outdoor time in rain or shine. After this out-breath activity. It is time to enjoy a warm meal together and after lunch every child contributes by washing their dish. Each child participates in a short rest and those who do not fall asleep are brought outside to play.
In this space, learning isn’t rushed; it emerges organically, like the blossoms of the garden outside. This is a place where the heart of childhood can unfold—slowly, gently, and with intention.

Building Community
The parent cooperative model encourages active involvement, creating a supportive community where families contribute to the educational journey of each child. Parents rotate coming into the classroom and we also hold 3 parent meetings a year for education and connection. We have seasonal celebrations with the Cedar Springs Learning Center.

Wholesome Food
The children are provided organic seasonal vegetables, fruits, and nuts each day for snack. We also enjoy a family style warm organic lunch together. We eat rice and lentils on Tuesdays, millet porridge on Wednesdays, harvest soup on Thursdays, and rice, beans, and avocado on Fridays.
